In the small town of Ravens Fair, the legend of Mary Shaw, a deceased ventriloquist who was brutally murdered by her own students, has been passed down for generations. When Jamie Ashen returns to his hometown after being away for 15 years, he is met with eerie silence from the townsfolk. His wife, Lisa, had been murdered under mysterious circumstances, and the only clue is a package containing a ventriloquist dummy named Billy. As Jamie delves deeper into the mystery of his wife's murder, he discovers that Lisa had been investigating Mary Shaw's legend before her death. He begins to suspect that there is a connection between the two murders, and that the killer may be using the dummy as a tool to lure victims. Jamie's investigation leads him to Edgar Allan Hitchcock, a local expert on the Mary Shaw legend. Hitchcock warns Jamie about the dangers of meddling with forces he doesn't understand, but Jamie is determined to uncover the truth. As Jamie digs deeper into the mystery, he uncovers a dark history of abuse and trauma that has been hidden beneath the surface of Ravens Fair for decades.
